Sound Background and Experience 

Dan Russek is an experienced Construction Director, Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager.

 

He started his career with Hayden and Rollett in 1998 where he cut his teeth in the industry developing expertise as a Quantity Surveyor.

​

In 2003 he moved to England and worked as a Project Manager with a private developer overseeing the delivery of large-scale residential developments.  Arriving back in NZ in 2005, Dan co-founded and grew Q Construction into a national construction company before starting his own construction company, Rucon, in 2013.

​

Rucon specialises in the construction & property sector with a proven track record spanning all sectors including commercial, industrial, multi-unit residential, healthcare, hospitality and hotels.  Rucon has developed and grown a highly-skilled team specialising in concrete structures and high end residential construction, and has completed an impressive portfolio of notable projects on complex sites across New Zealand with a particular focus on Auckland and Queenstown.

Dan is a well respected leader in the industry and has a proven record for getting tricky projects completed on time and without fuss.  These projects have ranged in value from $1 million to $50 million, including residential, hotel, commercial, industrial and hospitality developments.

Paul Gunn is a seasoned property professional with a career spanning over two decades across commercial, residential, hospitality, and retail development.  A qualified lawyer, Paul began his career in 1998 working in top-tier law firms where he specialised in property development and construction before transitioning to development in 2007.

He has held senior leadership roles, including Deputy CEO of a luxury-focused multi-national developer, GM of Property at Tramco Group managing over $1B in assets (including Viaduct Harbour Holdings where he worked with Fletchers and Goodman Property to deliver the Fonterra, Bayleys and Datacom buildings in Wynyard Quarter), and CEO of Smales Farm where he delivered award-winning projects including the B:HIVE (a market disrupting building and business which won best Office Building at the World Architecture awards), the Vodafone building and the Goodside hospitality precinct.

In 2021, Paul co-founded Sound Living with Dan whilst working as GM of Development at Templeton Group, delivering large-scale residential, hotel and mixed-use developments.  

​

Since 2024, he has led the management team at Aedifice Property Group, with over 1,000 homes currently in development.  The Aedifice business is 100% aligned with the objectives of Sound Living – to support Kiwis into first homes and high performing investments which everyone can be proud of.
